Best way to discover La Digue

On the ferry

Just about to go to bed after an incredible day. Took the bus early this morning to the jetty where the 'Inter Island ferry' leaves from. After some comfortable 20 minutes, we arrived on La Digue, ready to explore the island's famous beaches. We hired bikes and headed towards the beach. On our way there, we passed a vanilla and coconut plantation, and lots of huge turtles in their pen in L'Union Estate Plantation.

Anse Source D'argent, which is the beach all tourists head to straight after getting off the ferry (us included), was not as beautiful as some of the other beaches we found. For instance, Anse Severe, a bit north of La Passe (where the ferry terminal is located) was almost empty, and a much longer, and also more beautiful beach. Moreover, we continued to Anse Patates, and this beach, was the real deal. We shared the beach with another couple although, a bit to sunburnt to lay in the sun, we had a look around taking nice photos of the lovely view instead.

Furthermore, I have to say I was quite impressed with this little island. Riding around on our bikes, stopping at incredible beaches or simply taking in the atmosphere of the lush trails along the beaches and the pretty little houses or plantations, was rather peaceful, yet adventurous not knowing what to expect. A great day in other words!
