Waking up before the students means wifi is strong enough to upload pictures to the blog, so I better be quick :)
Yesterday was a physically exhausting day, we hiked up Mt. Longonot which is a volcano located two hours from Nairobi. Due to the weather, approximately 25 degrees celcius and a clear blue sky, the hike was quite demanding. After only fifty meters of walking uphill with a heavy backpack, I actually wasn't sure how I would make it in the heat up the pretty steep mountain. Anyway, after about an hour and a half, I made it up to the top accompanied by some very exhausted students and a colleague. On our way up, students had difficulties breathing in the thin air, a Kenyan student fainted and some slipped and fell on the sandy and narrow path. Nonetheless, I saw a giraffe!! At the top we enjoyed our packed lunch and the great view. Furthermore, the way down was not even comparable to the way up. Although some parts were slightly tricky due to the steepness, it was a relief walking downhill. Finally back at the base of the mountain, everyone had dust and sand all over and I myself have never been that dirty. My shoes where pink when starting the hike, and grey when returning.
Despite the fact that the hike was extremely difficult, I felt proud of myself making it all the way even if I at some points contemplated whether I would make it or not.
Och se kära Emeliuttan, nu är du på toppen igen, precis som jag sa! :-) Kram
