Thought I should give some tips and advice for those of you who are traveling to Berlin as coeliacs:
Restaurants to visit
- Block House - Offers a gluten free menu (Friedrichstrasse 100, Mitte, and on several other locations)
- Simela Pizzeria and Foccacceria - Gluten free pizza (Kantstrasse 146)
- Café Leon - I was able to eat the curry wurst with fries (Georgenstrasse 202, Mitte)
- Mc Donald's - Breakfast, such as scrambled eggs and bacon, hash browns, grilled chicken salad, fries.
Stores
- dm - Has a section of Schär's gluten free products
Hotel
- Tryp Berlin Mitte - Gluten free bread for breakfast and generally helpful staff
In general, it was rather difficult finding light meals to eat, lunch for instance. Cafés didn't seem to offer anything gluten free and all the little wurst/kebab stands seemed to have a lot of bread in their dishes. However, I played it safe and ate what I felt comfortable with. Self-evidently, I could most likely have asked a lot more and tried things despite not being 100 percent certain, but I didn't want to risk it.
