Out and about

We have now had our first day in Berlin and perhaps I can give a more convenient statement of what it's like being a coeliac. As we didn't feel like spending too much money on breakfast, we ended up in Mc Donald's after realising most stores were closed (Sunday). I ate scrambled eggs with bacon and a hash brown, which was totally ok.

We walked around the city looking for historical sights and saw, among other things, Check point Charlie which I thought was quite a disappointment. Before coming here, and ever since I studied history, I have always thought it would feel rather special seeing the wall, or what's left of it. Instead, it all felt like unreal and fake, as if it was all there to attract tourists and not for its historical purpose.
However, we made it to a restaurant where they served gluten free pizza, which I believe is one of the few places of its kind in Berlin, it's called Semola and is definitely worth a visit.

For dinner we ended up in the same restaurant as last night, not as planned but seemed like our best option after walking around for an hour looking for a nice place. Once again, the food was great and we left feeling content with a good ending to our day.
